A new perspective on the artwork of Mark Landis
How do we determine the value of art? Marcel Duchamp questioned that when he placed a urinal on a pedestal in a museum, and made the claim that context had everything to do with it. If we are to look at the artwork created by Mark Landis, and his act of donating fake masterpieces to museums for over 20 years, as a performance, then how does the way we look at those donated paintings change. How do we judge his actions under the lens of mental illness?
